Carreer at KTP

From production assistant to warehouse manager

“If you really want something, you have to go for it! I am incredibly grateful that KTP gave me the opportunity to retrain at my age. I don’t think that’s a given!”

– Stefan Sauerwald, Warehouse Manager

If you look at Stefan’s career at KTP, everyone will quickly realize that Stefan is a hard-working guy who likes to lend a hand and get involved. He has been working for KTP for over 10 years. He came to KTP through a temporary employment agency and started at the mill, where plastic waste is processed into regranulate. His superiors quickly recognized his potential and hired Stefan permanently as a production assistant and machine operator in 2013. In 2014 he was promoted to deputy shift leader and in 2015 to official shift leader.

He enjoyed this job for five years before he decided to change departments to incoming goods inspection in 2020. This is where Stefan found his calling. And because when Stefan does something, he does it right, he insisted on undergoing official retraining and training to become a warehouse logistics specialist.

“I admit that it wasn’t an easy time in training back then. Embedding 3 days of work and 2 days of school into your existing work routine and private life was quite a challenge.”

A challenge that Stefan mastered with flying colors – graduating with 1.0 as the best in the department! This brilliant achievement was rewarded with a well-deserved promotion to warehouse manager. Stefan is simply someone who likes to work.

“I really appreciate the freedom of choice that KTP offers me. If you have a good idea, you can implement it. Here at KTP you are not just a number – everyone is important and we treat each other with mutual respect. I am someone who really enjoys planning and constantly thinking about how I can improve or optimize something. I can ideally live out this creativity in our family atmosphere. That’s why I couldn’t imagine a better job!”

So don’t worry, Stefan certainly won’t be bored in the future and we’re excited to see what else he’ll come up with for our warehouse. Outside of work, he likes to pass his time reading and playing board games with friends. His next big goal? A trip to Cuba with his girlfriend. Because of his focus on all the hard work in training, traveling was unfortunately a bit neglected.
